Yesterday, I shared a simple 14 Stations of the Cross List free printable and said that it was part of another project that I had been working on. Today I am sharing the rest of that packet. Modeled after the Mysteries of the Rosary Draw and Write Activity Packet, I am now offering a free Draw and Write Stations of the Cross Activity Packet.

Wait. You might, of course, wonder why I shared one page from it yesterday for free if the whole thing is free anyway. This 39-page packet is free to email subscribers (although you can unsubscribe right away, if you want). There is also an option to buy it very inexpensively. However, the one page list printable is a free instant download for everyone.

This Stations of the Cross Activity for kids is a way for them to think on the Stations of the Cross in a different way than they might normally. It can give them a very hands on way to explore and express each Station.

When I initially planned to make this type of Stations of the Cross for kids, I came up with my formatting idea and then planned a small printable packet. However, as I thought more, I came up with a couple of variations on this. What I was left with ended up being a 39-page packet that features three variations.

I know that 39 pages can seem like a lot, but know that you'll pick just one variation to print and use. Of course, you can use as many as you want. But, it really only makes sense for each child to do only one of the variations. This means that the most each child will have in their packet will be 16 pages. There is also an option that involves only printing eight pages, however.

A Couple of Important Suggestions for Using this Stations of the Cross for Kids Activity Packet

Consider a Longer Time Frame for Using This

No matter which version you decide to use, please consider this to be an ongoing project for your children or students. Most kids (and adults!) would find it difficult to sit down in one session and draw all of these. This would be a wonderful project to work on over a period of time and then compile into a book at the end.

Don't Limit Yourself When it Comes to Art Supplies

If you want to give options, you might let students pick the art medium of their choice. Depending on the medium, this could become either a very realistic drawing or something much more interpretive or abstract.

Some possible drawing materials might include:

markers
colored pens
colored pencils – I love these ones!
chalk pastels
oil pastels
charcoal
paint (such as acrylic paint or watercolors)

This set is a nice and easy way to get lots of colors at once for multiple children to use

Draw and Write Stations of the Cross Activity: The Beginning of the Packet

The packet begins with a terms of use and credits page. Please be sure to read through this. By downloading it and using it, you are agreeing to abide by the terms of use.

There is a full sized cover page that can be colored in. This is the cover page that you will use for either version one or version two. Of course, you can also skip having a cover page, if you prefer.

The next page is the Stations of the Cross List. You may include this in a booklet that you make with your children or students or you may leave it out. That's up to you. (If you only want that page, however, you can get it here as an instant download.)

Draw and Write Stations of the Cross Activity: Version One

This is the version that comes directly after the pages mentioned above. Each Station of the Cross has its own full page. Each page gives the directions to draw that particular Station of the Cross and then to write what happened at that Station.

For example, the first page says, "Draw a picture of the first Station of the Cross. Under your picture, write what happened at this Station of the Cross."

In version one, each page features a cross at the top of the page which can also be colored in.

Draw and Write Stations of the Cross Activity: Version Two

Version two of this Draw and Write activity comes directly after the version one pages.

Just like the first version, these pages are also full-sized and have all of the same features and wording as version one.

I made this version for younger students or students who might be apt to just stare at the page and be unsure of what to draw. On each of the pages of version two, there is a small simple picture that depicts that particular Station of the Cross. Students may then use that as inspiration, if they want or need to.

Draw and Write Stations of the Cross Activity: Version Three

Version three comes right after the version two pages. Version three is identical to version one, except that each page is just a half-sheet of paper. This is ideal for using less paper or for students who might be intimidated by the larger drawing areas of versions one and two.
