Scottish Cup 6th Round Draw

The Scottish Cup has thrown up a few shocks already this season and it has delivered in spades once again as the two best teams in Scotland were put on collision course in the last 16.

After Rangers defeated Cove they set up a potentially epic battle with their bitter rivals at Ibrox.

That match is currently scheduled for April 17 and while Cove will offer a sturdy test, the derby is a mouth-watering prospect.

Celtic have lifted the cup for four years in a row and will be looking to make it five but they know they will have to achieve something they have failed to do all season - beat Rangers.

The draw also opens up a chance for another team to reach the final with the likes of Hibs, Kilmarnock, Dundee United and Aberdeen now surely fancying their chances of a trip to Hampden.

Read on for all the reaction with the mammoth clash less than a fortnight away.

Hartley delivers Cove quip

Amid all the reaction to a potential derby clash in the next round, spare. a thought for Cove boss Paul Hartley.

His reward if he pulls off one of the greatest cup shocks in recent history will be another incredibly tough match against Celtic.

And he saw the funny side as he spoke to Premier Sports before facing Rangers.

Yeah, another easy tie!

The most disappointing thing is there's no supporters here.

But we'll see where it takes us, have a go and hope for the best.

Evans 'couldn't believe' draw

(Image: SNS Group / SFA)

Sea shanty sensation Nathan Evans was in disbelief after his draw set up a potential derby cup clash.

The former Airdrie postman became a viral superstar at the turn of the year with his naval anthems proving a massive hit.

His most famous ditty 'Wellerman' now tops the UK charts and was invited to conduct the fourth and fifth round draw.

There he set up a potential Rangers vs Celtic showdown - unless the Ibrox side are stunned by Cove Rangers tonight.

It was a fantastic experience doing the draw today at Hampden Park.

I couldn't believe I pulled out Rangers to play Celtic, if Rangers win tonight.

I have a lot of Rangers and Celtic fans in a group chat so I could feel my phone buzzing like mad talking about it.

Today has been surreal coming to Hampden as it's the first time I've been here, despite watching so many games on the TV.

I had a walk around the stadium before the draw took place and it was a brilliant feeling.

Beale targets more trophies as draw throws up potential derby

(Image: SNS Group)

Rangers coach Michael Beale has roared that the club's 55th title is only the start of a trophy dynasty in Govan.

The 40-year-old has watched his charges develop over the three years he has worked under boss Steven Gerrard, culminating in this season's title glory.

But he's adamant that they haven't stopped their evolution yet - and insists more success is in the offing.

And Beale admits that new players will arrive in the summer as the Ibrox management team look to build on the foundations they have laid this season.

Rangers and Celtic fans react to potential draw

The Ibrox club's fans took to Twitter full of confidence that they can dispatch their old rivals and decisively end their season in April.

The Ibrox men are undefeated against their rivals this season.

The Celtic fans have been less vocal about the fourth round match-up but despite a poor season their team was the better side in the last two encounters.

Rangers fans

@ibroxrocks: Nathan Patterson is going to score the winner against them. Telling you now

@4ladshadadream: Having won the league the first week of March, we can now end their season completely by mid April As for cup runs, home ties is exactly what we want. This should also keep us focused and sharp in the run in All there for you Rangers, go and get it done

@garrycarmody: Cove Rangers v Clyde will be a class Scottish Cup quarter final.

Celtic fans

@20minutetims: Inevitable

We will find out who will be paired in the quarter-finals momentarily.

KEY EVENT

Rangers draw Celtic!

A huge draw lies in wait for Steven Gerrard's men if they get past Cove.

That game will take place on Saturday April 17 but may be moved for TV.

That's a huge tie so early in the competition for both teams and one they would wanted to have avoided you'd imagine.

The game would take place at Ibrox if Rangers win tonight.

Could Scotland's top two face off?

Yes. There could be another mouth-watering match up between the league's top two sides.

Both would probably want to avoid such a clash at this stage and there are other ties that would be serious banana skins.

Nobody will fancy facing Livingston in West Lothian, Hibs look like they could be a threat in the competition and Aberdeen should be on the receiving end of the new manager bounce after the appointment of Stephen Glass.

Writers give their Scottish Cup winners verdict

It's not often they agree on much but our writers are unanimous in who will win the final silverware of the season.

CRAIG SWAN :Rangers are the best team in the country right now. The Premiership table tells you that. They have to be favourites based on this term.

GAVIN BERRY: Rangers are obviously favourites and it's hard to see past them but with the league wrapped up so early it's all about them keeping up the high standards they have set. But on top form, they're the ones to beat.

MICHAEL GANNON: Rangers are the favourites but they might struggle to maintain their intensity with the league wrapped up early. Celtic have not become a bad side over night and with a bit of momentum they can finish the campaign with the Scottish Cup.

Scottish Cup winners betting odds

Rangers and Celtic are unsurprisingly the favourites with bookies to lift the trophy.

Some might be surprised the odds are so close given Rangers are yet to lose in the league this season and are unbeaten against their old foes but the Hoops have won the trophy four times on the spin.

Aberdeen are third favourites as new boss Stephen Glass looks to make what would be the ultimate splash in winning the cup for the first time in over three decades.

Rangers 13/8

Celtic 7/4

Aberdeen 10/1

Hibs 12/1

Dundee United 12/1
